Shrove Tuesday pancake recipe ideas

From classic favourites to savoury twists

Shrove Tuesday is the perfect excuse to gather, cook and enjoy something simple done well.

At Joy Farms, our eggs come from traditional slower-laying breeds, free to roam in the Surrey Hills. Their rich golden yolks and natural flavour make all the difference in a good pancake batter — giving you better colour, texture and taste.

So whether you’re sticking to tradition or trying something new, here’s some inspiration for Pancake Day.

Why Egg Quality Matters for pancakes

A good pancake needs structure, richness and lift. Eggs from traditional slower-laying breeds tend to have firmer whites and deeper yolks — giving you better flavour and texture in every batch.

A typical family will use 8–12 eggs on Shrove Tuesday… so it’s worth checking the fridge before you start flipping.
